Special Project: “Threat to Democracy”

‘Threat to Democracy’, is a multi-disciplinary project with spoken word artists and choreographers. This is a co-production of Creative Performances & Dixon Place Theater, a non-profit theater in the lower east side, NYC.
This multidisciplinary performance will unite spoken word artists and dance choreographers to confront the urgent challenges facing democracy in the United States, today. Through raw, evocative movement and powerful spoken narratives, this showcase will examine issues like voter rights, misinformation, disinformation, systemic inequalities, and the fragility of democratic ideals. In a time when civil liberties and collective voices are increasingly under threat, ‘Threat to Democracy’ will serve as both a call to action and a reflection of resilience, sparking dialogue and inspiring hope for a more equitable and inclusive future.
Producer Sangeeta Yesley will curate an hour long show with 10 dance works.

We’re raising money to make a difference and further our cause. To meet new challenges, we’ve set up this campaign with a goal of $2,500. This will help us pay the artists a fair stipend towards their talent and contribution for this important project. With your help, Creative Performances can reach this goal and continue the work we’ve set out to do in this campaign.
